Furry
Friends Network is a non profit, all-volunteer
animal adoption organization based in central Pennsylvania.
Furry Friends Network is not a shelter, but instead
uses a foster home network to house the animals
until permanent, indoor homes can be found, offering
second chances at lifetimes of love and happiness.

you are interested in meeting our adoptable
pets, please visit us at our adoptathons or

November Is
Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month
Furry Friends
Network and Petfinder.com are celebrating November as
Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month.
"Think
of a pet that is already trained and doesn't chew or
scratch everything in sight--a pet who will love you
unconditionally," said Kim Saunders, Petfinder.com's
Director of Public Relations. "That's what you get
when you adopt a senior pet."
Some
people worry that a senior pet comes with problems, but
according to Hazel
Blumberg-McKee of Tallahassee,
FL, there are no disadvantages. "In most cases
they've had a home and they want one again." She
adopted eight-and-a-half-year old Sadie, and has never
regretted
it. "An older animal
is easier to deal with. And Sadie is still playful.
She plays fetch and gallops all over the place."
At
animal shelters and rescue groups everywhere, there
are loving, healthy senior pets like Sadie, looking
for that one special home to cherish them for the
rest of
their life, and they don't ask for much: just a warm
place to
sleep, good meals and plenty of love.
Still not convinced? Read this: Why
Adopt A Mature Pet?
During
Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month, please take the opportunity
to get acquainted with some of our
wonderful older pets waiting patiently for their new
homes:

Dusty is 9 |

Ebbie is 13 |

Kayto is 10 |

Lakota |

Pebbles is 10 |
Please
consider the virtues of the senior pet.

Race
For Their Lives A Huge Success!!
Thank
you for helping Furry Friends Network cross the
finish line at its 2008 Race for Their Lives. On
September 20, 2008, approximately 135 humans and
their 50 canine companions came out to raise money
and awareness for the plight of homeless animals
in our community. Thanks to your generous support,
Furry Friends Network raised $13,862 towards the
continuation of its life saving mission. We never
could have done it without you, and want you to
know how very truly grateful we are for your generosity.
In these uncertain economic times, we realize donation
dollars are getting smaller, but sadly the number
of stray animals and those being surrendered by
their families is at an all time high. Rescues
and shelters are overflowing and medical and food
expenses are escalating. Please know your help
came at a crucial time and the support is truly
appreciated by the volunteers of Furry Friends
Network, and especially by the animals whose lives
you have saved. May God bless you for giving so
much and for the best gift you could have give
-- the gift of life!
Let's hope FFN's 5th Annual Strikes for Strays is as big of a hit. Please mark
your calendars for Sunday, February 22, 2009! The event starts @ 12:00 p.m.
with lunch and 1:00 p.m. bowling at Trindle Inn Bowl, Mechanicsburg. Lots of
fun, food and prizes!! Tell your friends and family this is a wonderful event
in which to participate. Not only will you have fun, but you will be bowling
to save the lives of helpless, homeless animals. The planning committee is
forming now, so if you would like to be a part of the planning process, please
email furryfriendsnet@aol.com |
